    • We’ve already retired more than 500 million cell phones alone
    • Each month, an additional ten million cell phones are retired
    • Almost all inkjet cartridges can be recycled
  • Determine how much money your team wants to raise
    • Average cell phone will generate $3.00
    • PDA’s average $10 each
    • Inkjet cartridges average $0.50 each
  • Have a collection box at each game
    • Announce on the loud speaker that you can bring cell phones down at half time at every game.
  • Have each team member’s family Facebook/email all friends and family to contribute their used cell phones to the team’s fundraiser
  • Contact local businesses
    • Ask them to set up collection boxes in their stores for your fundraiser
    • If your students go to others schools where they may serve as mentors, ask the students to collect phones on their behalf for the team
    • Use cell phone collection to get free admission to an event (i.e. bring a cell phone to Fall Festival to get in free)
    • Put outdoor signage asking people to bring in their used cell phones
  • Put an article in your local newspaper, community enewsletters/correspondence about your fundraiser
  • Pick a collection/shipping lead who:
    • Secures mailing labels and sufficient shipping box
    • Is sure to tape boxes securely for safe shipping
    • Review the Smart Shipping segment on the website
    • Ship when you have collected at least 20 cell phones/PDA’s and inkjet cartridges.

NOTE: The average household has 3-5 used cell phones in drawers. Be sure to ask your neighbors on both sides to triple your household’s contribution to the recycling/fundraising effort!
