Ashley Drake – Successful Cell Phone Recycling Fundraiser
Ashley Drake of Biloxi, MS. In September of 2009 Ashley Drake was selected by her High School Science Teacher to become a People to People Student Ambassador. She will be traveling to Brisbane, Cairns, and Sydney, Australia in July of 2010.
Ashley is a Featured Phoneraiser Fundraiser because not only did she raise significant funds by collecting and recycling cell phones/PDAs and inkjet cartridges, but she also told all of the members of her local People to People group about Phoneraiser. By her efforts, she received $25.00 for each person she referred to Phoneraiser who also registered with us and sent in at least 20 qualified cell phones/PDAs to be recycled!!!
Beyond that, then Ashley went to the national People to People website and wrote a blog about how much money she was earning by recycling cell phones/PDAs and inkjet cartridges with Phoneraiser! Because of Ashley’s blog, over 200 other People to People members learned about how they could both help the environment and earn significant amounts of money by recycling cell phones/PDAs and inkjet cartridges with Phoneraiser.
Several of the People to People members have earned THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS to help pay for their trips abroad this summer, because one young lady decided to share her story! Since each cell phone/PDA contains at least eight toxic elements, each one can contaminate up to 35,000 gallons of water. That’s enough drinking water for 153 people for a year.
An early estimate shows that based on the cell phones/PDAs that Phoneraiser has received from People to People Ambassadors since Ashley joined our team, we estimate Ashley’s efforts have resulted in saving 61,250,000 million gallons of water from being polluted and allowed almost $6,000 to be contributed to help make the world a better, more peaceful place, by sending students abroad to learn about different cultures and customs!!
